WYOMING, Minn. (WCCO) ―The founder of a program to keep people safe on Minnesota roads was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Wyoming, Minn.
Scott Judd, 42, started DWI Ride Home of Minnesota, Inc., which is a program designed to get people home safely from bars or parties.
According to the incident report, Judd was driving a van westbound on Highway 8 when he crossed the center line and struck a semi heading eastbound. The crash caused the semi to roll into the ditch and the van ended up on the north shoulder of the road.
The driver of the semi, 51-year-old Larry Christensen of Luck, Wis., suffered only minor injuries.
WCCO-TV talked with Judd back in 2007 shortly after his program launched.
The Patrol says Judd was not wearing his seat belt.
He's survived by his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, Brayden, 6, and Anya, 4. Stephanie said Scott was out trying to get sponsorships for his business when the tragic crash occurred.
She said he always wears his seatbelt, and she's not sure why he wouldn't have been wearing a seatbelt this time.
Stephanie said she would like to try and keep the business going but is not sure if that will be possible.
She said her husband loved helping people and that he helped save people's lives with his business.
"He was the best person I ever met," she said.
Stephanie said Scott was an organ donor. The family is in the process of making funeral arrangements.
