I found them at jameco.com
plastic 3-pin housing
gold-plated metal pins
the cheap metal pins
The jameco phone guy gave me the product number for the uber expensive gold plated pins... It turns out they also sell cheap tin plated pins, which I think will work fine.
They are about 6 cents a piece. Total price for enough to convert 100 2-wire fans: $25 + shipping.
----------------------------------------
As the title says, I am looking to purchase about 2 dozen 3-pin fan connectors. I don't want the Molex -> 3pin adapters, they are too expensive. I am looking for a cheap source for just the bare plastic connectors with (or without) wire leads coming off so I can solder them onto my own fans and such.
If anyone knows a source for these, let me know. I've been digging around the internet, but can't find anything....
For those of you wondering why I am doing this, it is because I have a large number of fans with ONLY the 4-pin molex connectors. I'd like to be able to have 3-pin connectors on them, but want to do it cheap since they are cheap fans. And yes, I am a "do-it-yourself" type of guy.
EDIT: Here's an example of what I want, but $1.50 each is way too much.
