burning ghost image files of hdds and keep getting errors. i have tried normal and also hacked firmwares with same results. any ideas? nero reports the files burned as good, but when i put them on another machine and try to look at the contents, i will get the "where is file xxx?" when all files are in the same folder. any ideas? i thought the pioneer drive was supposed to be reliable....

What brand motherboard are you using? chipset type? Also, do you have the latest chipset/IDE drivers for your mobo?
Another thing to check is DMA mode and if its enabled.

the m/b in question are a biostar, msi and iwill and all have run good. udma is checked and it is labeled as udma2, also the other dvd-roms can read the files, and they will show up, but ghost says the crc is bad....

hhmmm... I have the same drive and never had problems with it. What kind of discs do you use? Also, having the mobos run good doesn't mean they are error-free. If there are chipset driver and BIOS updates for the mobos, get them just to make sure these are not the causes of problems.

everything is up-to-date. the discs are verbatim, maybe i will go get some other ones.... i just did a ghost of a small computer and used 600MB files, i will see if this helps my chances...

I don't think its with the Pioneer drive though, maybe it has something to do with Nero and how it writes those files.......

I would suggest finding a DVD-ROM drive that is known to read DVD-R. I had an older DVD-ROM drive that couldn't read recordable DVD media.
Does the media work in the -R drive? Have you tried using something like Gear Pro? There's a free 30-day trial.

it appears the it is not the pioneer drive, but one of the computers. i was getting passes and corruption from within the sfv/md5 programs. i ftped over the files to this one particular computer that has consistently been the culprit. even then there were errors. thanks for the help.
