Found something strange on my driveway

This morning as I head to my car to go to work I see something really strange on my driveway: a seashell! It looked like one of those big snail shells where it's a big spiral. What's even more bizarre is it started to move! A frickin hermit crab is walking around on my driveway! I'm no where near a beach so I figure it must be a runaway pet of one of my neighbors... I put him in a box with some water and celery and I'll ask around when I get home from work.

the Sea is about 40 miles away, no way it can walk that far through suburban New york
