Found some old Dell CPx laptops

I found two semi complete Dell Latitude CPx laptops. I can combine parts from the two of them to make one complete part, but I'd like to make two complete units. How do I go about figuring out which CD drives and hard drives are compatible? I'll be hitting up ebay for this stuff, but if the parts are common to Latitudes and not just CPx, that might expand my possibilities. I don't know how many different laptop models used the same cd drives or hard drives. Thanks.

CPx laptops use standard 2.5 inch hard drives. For the CD and Floppy drives they should be the same one if you look under latitude C series.

Shouldn't be a problem so long as you have the right caddies and enclosures. You can check here if you need those:

They charge too much for the hd's and most optical drives (you can get a reg cd-drive for yours for ~$25), but have semi-decent pricing on other parts.

excellent. snagged a hard drive caddy on ebay for 10 bucks, now just need a drive, a CD drive, and some more ram, then i'll have 2 complete laptops, bringing the sum total of laptops in this house to 5. 🙂
