For anyone that is interested about the GT3 release on Wednesday (July 11th).

My cousin works for EB part time and he found out, from the weekly e-mail, that if he sells:

Gran Tourismo 3 ($79 Cdn)
New Logitech GT Force Wheel ($150 Cdn)
Hint Book ($18 Cdn)

for a total of $247 Cdn EB makes $83 Cdn margin.

That's 33.6% mark up.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Yeah not like the $61 Cdn (93.85%) pure profit that they get from selling a two year $65 Cdn Extended Service Warranty for a PS2 ($4 bucks go to the person who sells it).

Yup....... to help you get all the cars ie. teach you how to get certain drivers licenses to unlock cars so you could use them. I remember go to EB to look at the GT2 book for hints on how to get past certain parts. :D

This is actually a relatively low markup. Most retail prices are twice what the store pays for the item (though there are also many very short-margin items, like computers, bicycles, and others). Jewelry probably has the highest margin of amy major category of retail sales.

~34% isn't that bad.

At least it's not piss in a bottle sell it as perfume for $500 a bottle.

Does it annoy you guys to have to always put Cdn after you write a dollar amount?

Yes, but it's less annoying that people jumping on us and telling us what a horribly innaccurate price or huge ripoff we just posted, especially when it's irrelevant to the conversation ;)

Good for them.

They should charge as much as the market will bear...

That markup is not all that high. Consumer electronics in general have a markup of ~30%, so that isn't completely outrageous.

Try the `*!HUGE!*` markup on furniture and mattresses on for size. Not to mention designer clothes.
