Just an interesting note.....I found an old hard drive last used this past Feb.....hooked it up to my present system....was not allowed to format..so I decided to wipe whatever files that I could not delete manually...during the wipe 56 viruses were found....most all some form of backdoor..most common..but some rare viruses.

I always use Norton's Antivirus.....I wonder what exactly I did to get them there.

All were found in the old ME's system restore files

Just something I thought was interesting......anyone ever had more viruses than me? 🙂

Thats quite an impressive find, congratulations!

My personal best was only about 15 infections and they were the all CIH virus from afew years back.

Argh I *must* get some sort of AntiVirus package.

Not a bad find though! I think I have only ever had one, ever since the start of my PC hobby in 1996!

Can't say I can beat that, that is a lot of viruses, I had only one I think, my brother got one not to long ago while playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein from that server. NAV took him to desktop to let him know it was there.

Did you ever update NAV during those times and scanned the HDD after those updates? Might of gotten one before an update and never scanned?

Dam, those are a lot of viruses you got 😉

I did about the same thing, plugging an old hard drive into my new system. I used it for four years quite intensively, without any anti-virus protection whatsoever. When I ran Norton Anti-Virus scan, it did not find a single virus. Nada.
