Found New Hardware - "VIA bus master IDE drivers"

This problem belongs to my parent's computer.

Whenever I turn on my computer, I get this screen: Found New Hardware Wizard - "VIA bus master IDE drivers". First couple of months that I first turned on my computer never had this problem. I don't even remember when this wizard all of a sudden first pops out but it's certainly more than 2 months now-- I just never had a chance to fix/find solutions until today.

My first question is... What is this - What does this do?

Second question... How can I fix this?


I opened up the computer... looks like I have the VIA Apollo Pro 133A w/ Dual Processor.
When I boot up the computer, it says this: (AV18S403) VIA Apollo Pro 133A AGPsets.

Only thing that I know, the motherboard supports socket 370.

I don't know if those specs will certainly help. I just don't have the original box of the motherboard and its manufacturer.
The person who built this XP machine, doesn't even know the manufacturer and the kind of motherboard it is. He can't
find the solution to this problem too. We're bummed.

try downloading and installing the 4in1's

VIA 4 in 1's should fix it. As for IDing the mobo, look very carefully on the mobo itself, usually between the PCI slots, or along the memory. You should find a munber like "MS545-9V," or SY-370A4 etc. Take that number, type it into Google and see what you get.

Download Belarc Advisor and run it. It will tell everything about the computer.

Bleep, do you have a link for Belarc?...I only have a version plastered with Crucial advertising.

Edit: Once you have installed the 4in1's and rebooted it will likely detect the device again, this is normal, allow it to search for drivers, they will be located in your system directory.

So here's what I did.

I clicked on the provided link from spanky007, downloaded the VIA 4-in-1 (964KB).

Double-clicked on the zip file, winzip pops out and I clicked the Setup.exe file. Winzip
says it could not open, therefore, advised me to click on Actions > Checkout. Okay... then
I was able to execute the Setup file, it ran through whatever it needed, and reboot my machine.

So I'm hoping the New Hardware Wizard would go away... but NO. It's still asking for it. So I went
ahead and clicked Next. It would not detect the software automatically so I used it manually, pointed
to the place that I saved. Thus, it didn't have a folder after WinXP so I just clicked on the Win98SE.
But still... an error message says that It could not install the software. What gives... what else would
you suggest. Help me out.

The computer is running a pirated XP.

By the way... I downloaded the Belarc Advisor.

If I said I had never used pirated software, I would be lying....but the Anandtech Mods don't take kindly to it....just a warning...
