Found my old Sempron 2800+

I was up in the attic going through some boxes. Ran across an old Gigabyte K8 Triton box. Opened it up and found the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and my old Gigabyte Geforce 5900 AGP 8x card. I had just bought a new case and had my old one sitting around with a spare 600 watt PSU. Put it all together, fired it up, and it's still running after probably not being powered it up in 7-8 years. Useless probably for doing any projects today? If so, what about the old Socket 754 Clawhammer that was single core 2.4 GHz IIRC.

Not useless, but probably not worth the extra power bill..

What I was thinking.. I'm thinking of using it for a Windows XP rig for vintage PC games. Using a virtual machine still doesn't provide the same experience for games that lack Widescreen support.

My son was still using my old S754 Sempron 3100 o/c 2.5 GHz till about 2yrs ago, was fine until he tried to play a new game! Then we gave him an upgrade 😉.
Anyway it ran SETI ok.
