Is there typically a fee for getting a replacement? It's a mastercard atm/debit card from greenpoint bank. I called them up to let them know I lost it, but they told me after I called back that they only block the card; they can't reactivate them and that they'd send me a new card. If there's a fee, how much does it usually cost? (I'd call up my bank but they have no 24/7 helpline.)

If they charge you a fee, they are the worst bank ever.

Do you know how many people would just let it go unreported to avoid paying a fee?

They usually don't charge you anything, atleast they don't at my bank. You just have to wait a while to get your actually new card, they will give you a temporary if you go to the bank.

My bank's Disclosure statement lists a fee, however, we have NEVER charged any clients as far as I know. As pointed out by Ness, some idiots wouldn't bother reporting it lost if they knew they would be charged a fee. They'd reather just take the risk that their account will be cleaned out by a thief.
