Intentionally posting over and over will make you double post but that's not what it protects against.. it protects against that glitch or when you press back on the browser and enter again..

Matbe you cannot, but often I get an error when I hit reply....you cannot hit reply again to actually post.

I think it's a scheme to limit free speech....
