Found LCD by someone's driveway

I found a Sony 15" LCD by the curb as I drove by, so I picked it up. It had a monitor cable and it's power brick all with it. It powers up great, but there's just one problem.

The image on the screen is all wacked out, but there is no visible cut or mark on the actual surface of the LCD. What exactly does it look like happened to this monitor? I think it looks as if someoen struck it. Is there any chance that I can repair this with basic knowledge, or will it need a replacement part? If worst comes to worst, I'm sure I can get some cash for it on eBay or something selling it for parts.

If you jostle the monitor cable near the monitor while its attached to the screen, does the image change? Does shaking or moving the screen around affect image?

...and are you sure they were getting rid of it?

That looks like the same Sony POS I had a couple of years ago SDM51 or something like that(except mine was black). It would last about 30 days and go out, Sony refurbed it 3 times under warranty, and I finally forced them to refund my money. There was something inside the back panel that always came unsoldered. Everytime I got a refurbed unit back from Sony it would say on the work order "resoldered"

Looks like the display is cracked or something huh. Mostly likely not repairable... possibly the conductive contacts are screwed or something... who knows. Sucks when ya go thru all the trouble to steal it..lol

This piece of trash didn't pay off. Sometimes you get good stuff though - I've found dead monitors already. Their flyback transformers might prove to be much fun someday. 😀 Dangerous, but fun.
