I'm looking for the name of an older martial arts movie, and maybe the movie itself. I saw it on Kung-Fu Theatre in the early 80's, on either Fri or Sat night.
The Movie:
It was about a guy who goes to a monastary/martial arts school, and he goes through several training stations/tests.
The stations had him:
Walking up a ramp/staircase holding 2 buckets of water, with a knife attached to each arm pointing down.
When he finally passes this test, he is able to stop the novice in front of him by using his foot to help the novice keep his balance.
Learning to do something on a "log", which was made of a bunch of bamboo shoots, tied together.
When he passes this test, he is able to continue doing the something, even after they cut the strips holding the "log" together, and it becomes
it's many individual shoots.
Banging a giant bell with a hammer. Issue here is that the hammer is on a 20ft + long bamboo shoot.
When he passes this test, he is able to keep rhythm with the master sounding time.
That's about all I can remember from the movie. If anyone can help me out with this, I would appreciate the info.
Thanks.
