Found an original Halo Combat Evolved disc for PC should I install it?

It has the CD key on the back, found it in a box.

I wonder if it even runs on Win 7.

I've played the entire campaign on windows 8 x64 recently, it worked fine even without installing the patches.

You can run it downsampled for glorious sharp lines. There are also some amazing mods for it.
