Found an old check that I never cashed from Best Buy...woohoo!

While clearing out an old filing cabinet, I found a refund check from BB for $400 from Sept. 2001. I called BB and found out that I never cashed it and they're going to send me a new one. Woohoo! 😀

How I forgot about that much money, I'll never know 😕

They want me to send the old check in. I scanned it into my computer and I wrote down the name and ID# of the dude I talked to. Should I send the check via certified mail or anything like that? Or would that be too paranoid?

I found a paycheck from back when I was working student jobs in school for like $800 once... it was like 8 months old. I called the university and they issued me a new check right there on the spot. That was a happy day... 🙂

send it by priority with DC#, it's worth it

You can do it if you want, but the law is on your side. Companies cannot hold back paychecks, even if returned. After a number of years, it would become escheated property and would have to be reported to the state, who would turn around and try to find you. That's what you see once in a while in newspapers when the say "The state may owe you money" and then they list you. Anyway, getting off subject there, don't fear, they will issue it, but if you don't send it back they have no way of stopping you from cashing both.

I was contacted by my school the other day, I had lost 2 checks apparently and since it hadnt cleared them yet, they reprinted them for me and gave em up. 473 dollars! woot
