Found a Treasure last night!

A buddy of mine found quite a treasure in one of his old boxes of junk.

An original, unused Atari 2600 with about 30 games!! Ahh, that brings back memories. We're going to hook it up and enjoy some old-school classics later tonight.

I was reading the back of the box and the description touts the "incredible graphics and sound". Ahh, how far we've come...

And there's this picture of a family of four, all in late 70's-style clothing, huddled around a TV with big dorky grins on their faces. Very vintage.

I've got intellivision at home, now that's real fun.

Iwish they could make new games as addictive and fun as some of the old ones were.

a pristine atari and games and you're going to open it? i bet that thing would be worth some money? maybe not now, but down the road.

or maybe not, i have no idea the value of something like that.

Yep... not interested in making a buck. This is meant to be enjoyed. (if even for 5 minutes). But it would be a heck of a conversation piece! People would come over and see that and you can be sure a conversation will ensue.

I worked in a comic store for 5 years. Unless you're sitting on something EXTREMELY rare, and the price is sky-high, the selling price will never be enough to pay for the lost nostalgia. I say get it out hook it up, play it for a few months, relive old times then ebay it. 🙂

QFT... actually it is worth something now. Look it up on ebay and you will find people with nostalgia trying to get those items.

Nice find! Now, you need two sets of paddle controllers, 3 friends, and a game called Warlords.

Each player defends their own corner of the screen, which has a big fortress. In the center of each fortress sits the King. A ball bounces around the screen, slowly knocking down the walls of all the fortresses. You control a paddle (think Pong) that allows you to deflect the ball, or hold it and fire it at a chosen opponent. He whose king is the last one standing wins.

This game is fvcking awesome with friends. Trust me on this. 😀

I remember that game, it is a lot of fun.

Sure, i will scan the box .. I don't think it would be a problem. We are going to bust the thing open in an hour or so.

There are paddle controllers with it as well... I don't remember if Warlords is in the game pile or not.

This is going to be some good stuff!

I've an old Colecovision with around 30 games up in my attic. Virtual Boy with couple of unopened games. Sega Nomad with brand new battery pack still in the box. Neo Geo Pocket with about 10 games. But my prized console which I think will be worth the most later on is the Sega Saturn with about 80 games. Still have mint copies of games such as Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun, Dragon Force, Shining Force 3, Christmas Night, etc. Own bunch of Jap titles and accessories including twin sticks for Virtua On, several light guns, Bomberman multitap, sticks, etc.

Stuff like Nes, Snes, N64, and Playstation are too common and can be emulated. I own all these too but I don't expect much in value. I doubt the Saturn will be emulated anytime soon due to the dual processor unit and lack of interest.

I have an NGPC - I let my GF borrow it from time to time - plus I have all sorts of games - SNK vs. Capcom, Metal Slug 1, Ogre Battle Gaiden, Puyo Pop, etc.

But dammit, they're meant to be enjoyed!

i was going to buy a used Saturn on Ebay just to play Dragon Force. heard that was a great game!

Dragon Force is good but simple. I like the animation and graphic style of the game. I wouldn't call it a great game but definitely worth a play if you can get your hands on it. It has trademark Working Designs translated humor which can be good or bad depending on if you like that style.

It's worth nothing if it's not enjoyed.
