Polish it if ur gonna give it to a girl... if not, toss it back and stop stealing rocks from public parks.

no. the pic is 2272x1704 and 1.8mb.

sorry that I can't show you the other side of the rock, it has a permanent marker on it. I will probably polish it, or unless I can get the mark off it.
when I picked up the rock, I didn't think it looked like a heart enough, so I asked my friend to draw a heart shape on it. now it looks ugly on the other side. nail polisher didn't work. :(

We were at a beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there he saw a rock
Only it wasn't a rock
...

From the picture it looks like either diabase or quartzite (two very different kinds of rock, hard to tell from the pic). If it is diabase it will not polish up as the softer minerals will wear down more than the harder minerals so that the rock will remain pitted no matter how much it is polished. If it is quartzite then it might be possible to polish it a bit, depending on how well recrystalized the grain boundaries are. To tell the difference, use a magnifying glass to look at the rock up close. If there are black or dark mineral flecks between the grains then you probably have diabase. The overall grain texture looks more like quartzite to me but my wife leans toward diabase (yes, we're both geologists).

It was a rock lobster!

Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam

Down, down

Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'

Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Muscles flexin'
Flippers flippin'

Down, down

Let's rock!

Boy's in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'

Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun

Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter

Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhale
HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!

That rock looks fairly large.
If he tumbled it, it would lose it's shape.

Keep it natural.

don't polish it with sandpaper, unless you use the special kind for granite or rocks. but yea, polish that baby to a shine!

I'm with mdchesne on this one; I don't think that sandpaper will do the trick. Then again, I haven't polished stones before. I've polished some metals and acrylic -- but no stones...

But yah, polish it! :)
