My first job was working as a cart guy / bagger at CeeBees (grocery store). I found a billfold in a cart. Upon opening it I found a little over $1400, a ton of CC's and other assorted stuff. No Drivers Licence. That was quite a bit of money. For 20 minutes I had that internal argument about it. Do I keep it? do I turn it in? In the end, my morals won out, and I turned it in. One of the reasons I turned it in was because an RV was parked in about that spot a few minutes earlier. I assumed it was someones vacation money, and if I lost $1400 on my vacation, it would, well, ruin not only my vacation, but my kids.

My boss called the cops, and within 2 hrs the owner came to retrieve it. I was called up to the service desk. I assumed I was about to get thanked. At that point, the owner (a 40ish year old lady) accused me of taking $1000 out of the billfold. The cops ended up getting called and I was questioned and asked to empty my pockets. My boss never really trusted me after that, even though I never took sh!t.

What did we learn from this? People are scum. If that happens again, they will not be asking where their $1400 went. They will be asking where the $40,000 charges on all their CC's came from.

That is SO gay. I would have kept the money right from the start...

near the two del taco's across the street from each other..next to stater bro's and pretty close to the cemetary. It was in the parking lot..no cars were around.

Woah, I play D&D over there in Benchmark Villas every week or so. 😎

I found a womans purse right ouside my car in a Kroger parking lot, Had about 800.00 and some credit cards in it. I found the license and never contemplated keeping the cash and I called the lady. She was toatally freaked out and was worried that she wasnt going to be able to pay her rent that month. She tried to give me 20.00,but I told her no. At least it was the moral thing to do and I would hope that someone who found my wallet would have the same decency to call me up. Now, as for panties....we are in a totally different realm here. :>)

Peace

or just give it to the police station and let them figure it out. either way.
Exactly. I would do that so I would hope that if I ever lost my purse/wallet, someone would do the same thing for me. And for all of you who are saying to sell it or put it in the trash.... You'd be one of the first ones to come in here and bitch if you lost your wallet and someone did that to you. 😛

chances are she was robbed, no money in purse
probably got mugged and then the mugger dropped the purse after taking out the money

Man that sucks, but at least YOU know that you did the right thing. If that same thing happened to me, I would be a little pissed, but I wouldn't care about what other people thought about it because I knew that I did the right thing. But yeah, it's just sad of what some people are like.
