There's a game that I don't think is in the States, but please correct me if I'm wrong. It's a drum game that you hit the correct part of the drum as the colored circles reach the correct location. It's basically DDR with drums.

The console verion comes with a little drum kit that is pretty fun. Will this game work on my roommate's US PS2? I fear the answer is no... :(

No, I don't think so.

Unless you mod-chip the PS2.

EDIT: To clarify, they are region locked. Europe, US, and Japan can't play a different region than their own.

Arghhhhhhh!

This is the only thing I've seriously considered buying for myself during this entire stay. That sucks.

Thanks for the info, I hope they port this then.

Drum Mania? I've seen it in arcades around here and on the Import PS2. I doubt they'll release it in the US because not many people have interest in it.

Just buy it, you can always get a Swap Magic kit, which should allow you to play it without having to mod the PS2.

I know, I know but there's 3 problems:
1) the ps2 isn't mine
2) the ps2 is very old and is already on the fritz. I don't want it to die after getting the chip
3) the game + drums + chip would put me near $170 for ONE game. That's an expensive fvcking game!

Swap magic is something that does just what it says...let's you swap an import or burned game after fooling the system with a real game, w/o using a chip

so you put in the swap magic disk and then the actual game afterwards? how much does this kit cost?

I don't know; I've heard about it, but since I don't own a PS2, I don't have any pricing information.
