Found a dead bee under my bed, and a live one flying around next to it.

I live in a small apartment. I checked most of the common entry ways and didn't see any more.

Is this a potential perpetual problem or something that might be normal for late summer? Only thing I can think of is that they got in through my air conditioner (window unit), or they got in under my front door, but that doesn't lead outside....

In the case of 2 bees, is there likely a whole hive somewhere?

Probably, and with bees having tiny brains, most likely, the live one you saw reported back to the hive that you were responsible for the death of its comrade in wings...and you’re now on the hit list.

Possible a new seam or hole opened up around a window. Bees are maybe searching for warmth since the summer is ending.

Make sure to cut off and keep their knees. Apparently those are very sought after and would help buffer you against the impending recession.

Could have just flown in when you had a door or window open, or you might have a massive nest in your walls and they will tunnel out of the wall and attack you while you sleep. It's about 50/50 and probably nothing to worry about.

were they actually bees? Many people call various flying insects bees.

I hope they weren't hornets or wasps. They get very nasty tempered during the fall here.

Sometimes bees land on people and thus get a free pass indoors.
Wait until thou hast 6 to 10 bees within thine household before thou commencest wringing thy hands and seeking the hive.
