Depends on how much you want to spend and what features you need. I imagine the 965 boards will be cheaper, but who knows if they'll support crossfire if you're interested in it.

If you plan to overclock at all I would wait, Intel boards tend to have limited to no overclocking features. Otherwise, might as well go for it.

Yes, but doesn't have as many of the overclocking features as many of the enthuiset boards, which definatly limits overclocking potential.

You can enable more OC features by using ITK:

And if you look closely..the ONLY other FSB option is 1333mhz FSB..so again, not exactly a lot of options there..

It looks like CPU VID, FSB Multiplier, and FSB Freq. are all there. For each FSB setting you have up to 30% OC speed increase in 1% increments via Burn in mode percentage. After that you just turn on 1333 and keep going until the limit is reached

Memory has it's own custom voltage and speed settings that you can customize.

I think this concept is great. (ie "roll your own" custom BIOS)

If there are OC limitations, I don't know what they are however I've only begun investigating this ITK tool. I too thought that Intel MB's didn't allow decent OC'ing options but it looks like it's not the case here.

i think it'll be better waiting for the 965 chipsets.Cause they are rumoured to support crossfire and have ddr2-800 support natively.Where as the present 975x chipsets from intel only support ddr2-667.
If u can find one,u might as well get the d975xbx rev 304.If u can wait, might as well get the 965 boards.

the board in fry's is rev 304 which supports conroe. $207 in ZZF may be rev 302 which cannot support conroe.

Oh, no. Now you guys are telling me to wait for 965 if I want to upgrade and OC? I'm never going to end up buying parts. :D

Was planning on getting an e6600. Just flicking through some threads and the general consensus is to wait for the 965 chipsets to come out. why's this are they going to be easier to overclock, cheaper and generally more conroe friendly? Are there any boards that have been specifically made for Conroe yet?
