So I see this device that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and has an FM modulator and an input for any headphone driving device. I wanted something for my Ipod, but I am weary of these cheap FM modulators that have crappy sound quality, and a lot of interference.

I also notice that this thing has a USB connector, and upon further examination, it accepts any USB flash drive and plays MP3s stored on it!

I had my doubts about its quality, but I'm here to say that it passes with great results. The FM modulator section worked great with my Ipod, no static, and excellent frequency response.

I plugged my recently purchased Sandisk 512M stick, with a ton of MP3s on it, and it played without a hitch! For $29.95, you can't go wrong - I am really happy with it.

So why do I need this if I have an I-pod? The Belkin FM modulator at Wally World is the same price (the one with selectable channels), and friends of mine think its crappy. Now I can keep my Ipod out of the car, and just use the flash stick around my neck anytime I'm driving around!

Here is the Walmart.com link: Text

Note: It is available in the auto section, not electronics.

Their site directly - you'll like the pics ;) Text

Post as a hot deal?

It gets power via the cigarette lighter, to power the internal electronics, which includes the FM modulator and USB/MP3 player. You still need to either attach an Ipod, or a memory stick with MP3s on it. It decodes the MP3s internally and plays them via the FM modulator to your car's FM receiver.

there was a post at fatwallet about this already. it's powered by the lighter and it transmit mp3's through a FM frequency from any flash drive that you plug in.

i would imagine sound quality wouldn't be so good in city area.

It's $25 @ CostCo B&M

RossMAN, you always have your finger on the hot deal!

I think its still worth a few extra $$ from Walmart B&M.

If the device works (lots of bad reports) then it's worth every penny.

Plug USB flash drive into this and play MP3's through your FM radio for under $30 is HAWT! I am returning mine to CostCo after reading most of the negative reviews.

Interesting, mine has worked flawlessly. I'm pretty picky about the sound and quality too.

Ross maybe you should try it for yourself? Reviews aren't always the best way to go about things.

Okay, that's what I was wondering.

Rossman, where are these negative reviews?

I have a Kingston 512MB that's what attracted me to this product initially.

Here is a review from Tom's Hardware for a similar (but a little more pricey) item.

I think a big factor in whether or not these work well is your vehicle. A lot of comments talk about buzzing, humming or other noise which could be caused by the actual vehicle - something that happens with a lot of wirelss FM modulators.

Personally, I'll stick with XM :)
