It is a sanyo scp-6780 pretty nice as oppose to my candy bar cell phone. This has a sprint service. Now here is the kicker, I tried calling all the contact to return the phone and finally reached the daughter of the owner. She is an adult and she told me to wait while she tried to reach her mom the owner. Then she calls back one hour later and she told me to keep it. WTF? I told her to give me her address so I can mail it to her. She said just keep it and will get another one. What do I do with this now?

It's most likely worthless on Sprint; might be usable on other CDMA networks, though. If it's been reported lost or stolen, the ESN has probably been blacklisted so it can no longer be activated on their network.

I found a cell once, and tracked down the owner. It belonged to the owner of a local bagel shop, and he dropped it on a catering gig. He gave me a big bag of bagels, and lots of toppings for returning it :^)

Call Sprint and see if it has a clean ESN/MEID. Chances are you'll have to have them call Sprint and tell them you have the phone, and it's not lost/stolen, and that you have permission to sell/activate it as you please.

If you sell it as is, chances are nobody else will be able to activate it.

Probably she thought you're a creep of some sort. I'd throw it away, but if you care about having it returned give it to the police.

our education system is broken
this is proof positive

Maybe you haven't read the OP's ENTIRE post. Context is everything!

Nvm, I finally saw what you were saying. My English is sub-par! Apologies!

Like others said she probably reported it lost/stolen. I wouldn't even try to activate it or sell it, it will be more trouble than it's worth.

My daughter just found a phone too. We were sledding down the bunny run at the local ski resort yesterday. It's off season and they are closed, but there is still enough slush on the ground for good sledding. Halfway down a run my daughter found a bright orange Verizon LG-VN250 that had been buried in the snow waiting for the spring melt.

I was sure it was toast, but we dried and charged it and it works like a charm. Got some numbers off of it and called the mother of the kid who dropped it. Turns out the kids father is a teacher at my daughters high school so we can return it tomorrow.

The last calls on the phone went unanswered on New Years Eve. Looks like the thing survived five months buried under a ton of snow.

Did you find it in a Walmart?

LOL, oddly enough I really DID find a phone at Wally, it was in a cart I retrieved from the parking lot, I looked through the numbers dialed out and called the one most listed, got a hold of the woman's best friend, wound up retuning the phone and the lady gave me $20 reward so I had free pizza that night..
