I'm going to guess it's EasyNews considering it's a 6GB limit cause I use them myself.

My ISP is charter communications. They provide two nntp's here in So. Cal. One from Cherter.net and one from earthlink.net.

Charter.net -
1.5 day retention
99% completion
2 connections with 15k download each connection (30k/sec max download speed)
Uncapped header download, capped post download
Unlimited downloads

earthlink.net -
7.5 day retention
99% completion
4 connections without download cap
(sometimes the server is bogged and you can only download at 80k/sec total)
20GB/month (30 days) running total

With both of them combined I never have to worry about missing posts.

Umm you act like it's some big secret or something. It's easynews.

Yes they do let you go over without charging. If you feel like going to the max all you have to do is stop downloading at like 5.99 gb. Then zip up a bunch of huge files and download them simultaneously. They aren't asses and won't cut your download off midway, they will let it finish before blocking your access. If you want to abuse it then you're being a dick, it's there for people who go a little over.

RoadRunner's news servers aren't bad either...

Most of the time they're okay (despite the very short retention time) but that's a case of "you get what you pay for"

There's only a few groups that aren't avaliable, but most of the major ones are.

Possible, I have seen some lesser known providers with similar plans however.

On another note, this was mentioned in the original post
Interesting, I've downloaded 20gb on a 6gb account
that would be more than you could do with 5.99 (easynews's max queue is 6 files, 1gb per file (at least thats what they officially state in the zipmanager)

I've compressed more than 1GB with their zip manager and they download fine. They state that files may become corrupt and so forth, but I've never encountered it. I'm not such a cheapass as to rip em off, so I just pay another $10 if I need to.

wait till you get billed. Alot of times they let you go over only to bill you for it.
