I guess that's a commentary, but I don't see how it's supposed to help the OP. Aren't those applications based on SMS? At the very least, you could do something like keep a mobile phone of record on the account, and when someone tries to change something sensitive text the handset and request a security code in reply. Shouldn't be that hard to set up.
