So I've been playing Forza for the last couple hours... What an amazing game... Honestly, I would have to say that this is the best racing sim I have ever played...

I haven?t had a chance to check it out on LIVE yet, but so far the single player career is just amazing. I started out with an SRT-4 (Same car I own in real life) and the physics of this are spot on. I quickly needed to go check out the Viper ACR (Another car that I have had lots of experience driving) again - Amazingly accurate. All of the cars act/feel different from each other and exactly as they do in real life...

Music - I turned it off... I hate hearing music while I'm racing. I only want to hear the scream of the engine and the tires squealing!

Damage - This is a big one... I don?t understand how GT4 has made it so popular without this... The damage in Forza (I set it to realistic) is not really as real as they made it sound it would be... there's damage, things get smucked up, windows break... simple stuff... if you smash into a wall or someone hits you in the right spot, it will screw up your steering and everything so that's pretty cool... Engine can get damaged and the car wont run right... it's pretty cool... and the more damage, the less money you win at the end of the race because you had to repair your car... it's cool... I like it exactly how it is...

AI - Just great. the AI in this game does not seem to be on a "line" at all.. I've seen them swerve out of the way, smash into a wall and spin out... as well as trying to PIT me so I spin out, drafting me to pass, etc... sometimes the AI drivers get to cocky when racing right beside you trying to get that extra edge they don?t slow down enough and end up going into the sand around a corner... Just great! I love it!

There seems to be a lot of cars... I went into Arcade mode thinking I could drive any, but not all of the cars are even listed there... I went into Career and looked there, and there's even more in that mode to unlock... Lots of variety... old cars - new cars... not near as many cars as GT4, but then again there's not 40 different versions of a Skyline in Forza either...

The graphics seem amazing so far... I've been very impressed, and personally I think they are a lot better then GT4, but still... I like that game as well, so don?t think I'm just a fanboy :)

Modifications - This is just crazy!! The bigger the turbo, more HP of course, but you can hear it when your driving... exhaust notes change when you upgrade your intake exhaust systems, lower the car and you can actually tell... Strip the inside and throw in a roll-cage and you can see the cage inside while racing, makes the car more rigid and everything... the amount of physics and everything in this game is just crazy with how every little mod changes how the car feels in some way or another. Paint system, graphics on cars, etc. is all decent. Doesn?t have any effect on how the car works or anything, I guess it will make a difference on LIVE to be different from everyone else...

Changing bumpers, hoods, side skirts all change the wind resistance, weight, etc. of the car as well. different materials (Carbon Fibre, etc) its all very nice... So much to do...

AI Driver - You can train your own driver for races just like in GT4... but only in Forza, it learns from you... you take a driver out in the car with you and teach it how to drive... Forza will take you around a track and give you grades depending on how you did the turns, etc and the driver will learn from your driving... if you suck at Apexing, so will your driver, etc... so it's not just a computer playing for you... You have to make sure the driver is capable of doing most stuff if you want it to succeed.

Anyway - I'm going to go play more... :) Any questions about it or anything just ask and I'll answer as best I can when I check back...

I wonder if this game can be enjoyed by someone like myself who doesn't want to spend countless hours micromaging the upgrades. Is there some sort of autoupgrade where it picks the best upgrades for the $$ you have?

i'm willing to bet you'd grow to like upgrading your car...i don't think it requires THAT much micromanagement as to make it repetitive or boring...but that differs person to person i guess.

There isn?t that much Micromanagement... if you don?t want too get into the detailed stuff like fuel curves and boost pressure and all that, just add the upgrades... most of the cars I have now are just "buy - install" and they work fine... The fine detail stuff is only for the person who wants to get every last ounce of power out of their machine... but definitely not needed to play the game or win...
