I'm thinking about purchasing this game for my PC while it's on sale. Steam and Microsoft have it on sale for the same price. Which version of the game has less issues? Steam or Microsoft? Do games purchased through the Microsoft store still have to be redownload even if they are installed on a separate hard drive or partition after reinstalling Windows 10 or will the Xbox app detect the game files on the separate hard drive or partition after a fresh Windows 10 installation and running the Xbox app?

If you have an Xbox then buy it on Microsoft store so you can play on both with only the 1 purchase. If you only play it on PC, just buy it on steam. While installs are much better now through Microsoft store, they still have weird permission settings.

Nevermind. Game sucks.
Took 5 hours to download all that data. MOST other large games these days are set up to let you start playing when you have a small chunk of the full game downloaded. In Forza Horizon that would be easy. Just let you play with a starter car on a section of the map while everything downloads in the background. Tons of games do it. Not FH5.
Also, it had a constant crash at startup and I had to look up the solution, wont get into it but it was a nightmare.
THEN, when in game you have to go through a lot of crap just to get to your first actual race.
When I finally finished, all the cars went across the line but the game just hung there, not progressing. And NOBODY online had a solution for that.
I unisntalled and asked for a refund.
MS will never get another dollar from me. Not for an Operating system, or a game.
