So, is it because developers want to make Nvidia look bad, or is SLI really that much of a pain in the ass to implement? SLI is dying pretty fast it seems. I have been an SLI user since Geforce 6 series. I honestly don't think I can justify buying two cards next time, no matter how cool the idea of having TWO cards seems to be. Its not cool if they don't work, and these days, they don't work, like at ALL.

There is no SLI or Crossfire in DX12. There is explicit MGPU which is part of DX12 and has to be done by the developers. There are two options for it and can either do matched cards (like SLI) or mismatched (even more so than crossfire as it works against cross-generation and even cross-vendor).

Microsoft is working on a more "simple" MGPU layer which will make it easier for developers to add support.

Sounds like that might become a reality in the next 5 years. Not being sarcastic either. That sounds like a total backburner priority level thing that they won't get around to doing for another half decade. I don't think most developers care about supporting the combined total of 12 rich kids on the planet who have enough money for two GPU's. Most kids are lucky if they can afford to even buy the GAME.

Windows store exclusive games will probably have pretty limited driver support since market penetration will be so small. The heavy vendor specific driver tweaks probably won't happen until a Xbox-ecosystem game hits Steam.

I like the idea of MGPU support in Direct X 12 better than traditional SLI. It gives you an opportunity in the future to use both your old and new graphics card to improve performance even if they are different models, and maybe even use integrated graphics on the CPU for a small performance boost as well.

Multi gpu is dead for the next couple quarters (crosses fingers its not longer), until some point where devs get a handle on the new process and start implementing it. When that will be... lol smh.
