When we were racing the other night he said he was thinking of racing bone stock cars, so there may not be much to tune. Guess we'll see. If we don't hear from him by the end of the day we'll skip him for now.

Sorry guys. Totally forgot!

The restrictions will be:

S class: Carrera GT

NO MODS! Bone STOCK!

All assists off if you dare! (not required)

Once the room gets tired of it, we can switch to another car. Sound good?

I'm down for that.

How does the whole game-party garage thing work? As in, if I don't have a particular vehicle or it is not in stock trim, will I be able to select the appropriate vehicle from the room/party/whatever garage that is shown there?

This is an extremely fun to drive car, it's not the fastest thing, but it keeps you on the edge and it sounds amazing!

That doesn't work. ZR-1 is a VIP locked car, I bet less than half the people on here have the VIP pack.

Kool! How does everyone run their options? I run everything off with the exception of clutch (not coordinated enough). So, I often have my cars sliding a little too much or get too much wheel spin... but it's still fun!

oops brain fart. Changed to another car.

I run everything off with clutch. If you are using a controller you basically have to switch the clutch/handbrake button. It's a controller layout option.

🙂

I'd love to use manual w/clutch but on the controller with the placement of my upshift/downshift buttons (Y and X) adding the clutch is difficult.

I've got TCS and ABS on, manual w/o clutch.

Really? VIP pack is now sold separately. I'd hope such enthusiasts as on here would have it, it has some sweet cars!

Everything turned off except clutch and ABS. I did no ABS for a while, but I didn't find it reducing braking times much and even if locking up the ABS still means you can't turn much in a panic stop, at least you don't just plow ahead. It wasn't as much a problem in single player racing, but with these yahoos it's good insurance 😀

That doesn't work either. Carrera GT is an abomination of a Porsche, I refuse!! :awe:

Kidding, sounds like fun! I hear that's a rough car to handle in-game but I guess we'll see! Also, no one needs to buy the car, it's available in it's stock form in the arcade garage, this will be a cheap week!

It will be easier than usual for you to stuff it into a wall then!

There's an option to change the clutch to X (handbrake goes to L1 button), which makes down/upshifting no different than before since your thumb is big enough to push both at the same time. It takes about 10mins of driving to perfect and it improves laptimes considerably!

You don't even have to let go of the gas when you shift, since it doesn't damage the engine, it just sounds unnatural.

p.s. On rwd cars don't down/upshift in the middle of a corner without being prepared!

Yeah...like I need any more help D:

I probably could figure it out pretty well but I've had "X" as my downshift button since PGR3...changing now may vex me permenantly!

How does using a clutch improve lap times?

For cars without a race clutch/flywheel setup you can just hold down the gas as you shift basically just as fast. It lets you shift immediately with no delay waiting for the revs to come down.

The difference is most noticable on lower power cars. It diminishes as you get to race classes.

I never upgrade the clutch on my cars and rarely upgrade the flywheel unless I'm in need of points.

A good way to test it out yourself is to run a quarter mile drag race with clutch on/off. You will get out of the hole faster and shift faster and leave your ghost in the dust.

For example, in a C6 Z06 I ran about half a second faster with the clutch.

I'm going to work on getting used to "layout 11" with Gear Shift Swap 'On', Handbrake/clutch swap 'On', and camera/lookback swap 'On'. Everything else off.

You work on changing your controller, I'm going to work on keeping my rear wheels behind my front wheels 😀

The CGT is no joke to drive, should be a good time. A guy that lives in his building is selling his 360 wireless wheel for $45... I don't even think it's been used.

I bought mine for around $40 probably two years ago on Ebay, still works great but I don't really use it.

Yeah I haven't bothered with a wheel considering I sit in the middle of my living room in my office chair to play (couch is too far from the TV to play comfortably), on a hard floor nonetheless. Maybe if I get a 30-inch LCD for my office one day 😀

And for Kabob - Porsche Panamera race car: http://jonsibal.com/blog/2010/06/panamera-racecar/

They dropped 1200 lbs from the factory sedan 😱

Yeah the Panamera's are here too. I usually see at least one on my way in to work.

Oh, and another moment for Kabob: leaving work, there was a friggin' 911 GT3 RS in the parking lot. Yes, the pseudo-race car with dark grey body work and bright pink/red letting all over. Yes, it was badass. And my effing Droid decided it wouldn't want to focus!!!! 😡
