Same, we're just getting over a tornado running through the middle of Birmingham. Tons of chaos, sorry but I won't make it either.

Wow, so this is really bad. My wife works just North of downtown Birmingham in a place called Pleasant Grove. Early reports say that whole neighborhoods are gone. The school where she teaches is supposedly leveled as well. This is just an early report (from one of her students actually) but yeah...really bad.

Me too. She's trying to get in touch with people who live there. Several of the teachers who live in the area have said their houses are gone. There tornado was crazy, it started in Mississippi and is still on the ground. There's a debris cloud that's carrying stuff from 60+ miles away and dropping it here. They just showed a licence plate from Tuscaloosa that was found in Graysville (about 55 miles apart).

So, did anyone race last night? Sorry that yet again I couldn't make it but at least this time there's a solid reason. Man, it's freaking crazy down here this morning.

School let out at 10:30 AM yesterday and we carpool so we'd been at home for hours when it hit. We live a good way from her school, the monster tornado was north of us, several others were all around but none came close to us thankfully.

That's a relief. When my wife comes home and tells me she had a bad day I'll have to tell her that it was nothing like your wife's.

This is what a large portion of the city looks like now:

My wife and a few other teachers are trying to get up there today to help out. They're trying to keep all non-residents out right now (they are still a ton of missing people and the number of fatalities is unknown) but the school is apparently in much better shape than they thought and is being used as a rescue center, we've seen several of her students on TV who had their homes destroyed.

I'll try to make it tonight. Everything has been crazy since the tornado but hopefully I'll get some free time.
