Example:
German Sportsline race, BMW vs Audi, and 'flyer' has B[500]...but my M3-GTR is A[564] and it still allows me to race and win money. What is the point of the B[500]?
 
In some races it is merely a suggestion, in others it is a strict restriction.

There is a button to hit to look at the actual restrictions, I don't have it in front of me.

I think everything passed manufacturer races has it as a strict restriction.
 
either x or y is restrictions, it's at the bottom of the screen. you can also look at the rest of the field once you select the race.
 
I always check both the playing field and restrictions, as mentioned the buttons to bring those up are listed at the bottom of the screen.
