If you're just using one car, you won't be alone. I'm rollin' in just one. I think I can compete on all tracks with it.

Pfft, ya buncha girly men keeping your cars secret...

I know what OSJ is running, anyone else wanna know?? :p Kidding, I will say though that when we ran practice a few days ago he throttled me with it, I couldn't keep up.

I've gone through almost every A850 car we've used (didn't really feel like up/detuning anything) minus the M3 (which I might check out), on Laguna I couldn't touch the Lotus Elise 135R that we used the very first week I raced with you guys. So that'll be either my primary or my "short track" car. My Mini was a close second but in the end it was easier to get consistantly fast laps with the Elise. My concern though is that it doesn't accelerate very quickly, I'm worried I'll get passed on the straights and won't be able to pass back on the curves...we'll see I guess. I thought the Cayman might work well too but it couldn't keep up.

Dunno what I'll use as a speed car...maybe I will make good on my "threat" and use my heavyweight car.

AFAIK I'll be there tonight, ya never know with my wife though, we might have some surprise plans.

Lots of connection issues tonight. Good racing when it happened, although I only got 3 or 4 races in (counts in head...4 I think).

I think we need to start racing at 8 to 8:05, we didn't even start racing until almost 8:20. By 8:45 we had done 3 races. Start at 8, let people join in as they can. After the first race check and see if anyone has connection issues, if so switch hosts or something, rinse, repeat.

I tried multiple times to rejoin after leaving, got a fail to join every time. Also, my Xbox was acting really funny. When I started it up it sat at the Xbox logo loading screen for probably 45+ seconds, then moved to the dashboard. When it did I got an "unreadible disk" message at the bottom. Popped it out and back in, worked fine. When I restarted the Xbox in the hopes of joining again I got the same slowness/disk error. So I took Forza out and restarted, the dashboard popped right up. Wonder if my Forza disk is messing up...

Twas fun when it worked, the Aston Martin heavyweight was surprisingly nimble as long as you hit the brakes early enough. Still, it was so heavy that it didn't really have much of a top end advantage, so in the end it was a moderately fast poor braking decent handling car. Anything tight killed the car though.

I enjoyed getting my first ever win, although I'll admit I think the Elise was borderline "cheap" at Tsukuba (had to look it up to figure out the spelling).

The Shelby should be fun, I'll try to pick one up soon. Next week though I wouldn't be surprised if I don't make it, we might very well be working till 10 or later.

I thought I did fairly decent last night. After a bit of a rough start, I finally got in at Laguna and if not for a few things here and there, I think I probably could have won that one. Nearly did. Gotta watch that replay to see the closeness of that finish. Second race at Road Atlanta, I guess I just spaced out on the first turn and drove off the track, essentially ending it right there. My Z definitely can hang on that track but not if you drop 15 seconds screwing around on the first turn :p I got a great jump at Silverstone and was out front by turn 3 or 4. That AWD off the line was brutal.

The relay game was fun for the first time. I think it's got some potential once we figure out strategies and such. It might be a bit hard to keep track of but maybe one rule change could be that the non-lap cars (those not currently running their lap) can wreck the others. Or maybe it's the other way around and the lap car is the only one that can be wrecked and the others must protect? I don't know. They both could be interesting, I think. We don't necessarily need to start tweaking rules now, though, since we've only tried it the one time. Maybe we just give it another shot as is and see what kinds of strategies develop. Blocking seems to be key, though, for sure. The importance of that may be diminished depending on the lap order, though. I think it's got potential.

One thing I'm a little concerned about is that we run too many "fun" races instead of real races. Last night was fine since we just did the one cat and mouse but a relay and two cat and mouse games, I think would be too much time spent away from actual racing. Just my opinion, though, and I'll go with what everyone else wants.

Well the relay race was meant to be a substitute for C&M not to do both. I only suggested a single C&M race last night for "old times" sake with Waldo (well that and CK really wanted to wreck you guys).

Relay -- I think about the ruleset a little and make a small change to it before next week. It was different for sure. By no means would I say do it every week but just something to change things up a bit. You and CK were blocking well enough at the end that RP got right up in front of me and nearly pulled it out in the last turn. My only saving grace was that my S-Class Saleen had the speed to get by and pull away.

C&M -- yet another win for the "light red" team LOL! We got lucky that's for sure.

Racing -- damn I sucked last night. I just was off my game, nuff said.

Was a lot of fun last night. Thanks for having me back.

CK - The shark had to bite you one good time for disgracing it with your pink mustang win. The car was out of my control and just went right for your rear bumper! It was crazy.

OSJ - That race was awesome on Laguna. You could catch me easily but just couldn't get around me. Thanks long straight away @ start/finish! :)

I think an simpler solution is trying to have less "down time." Like I mentioned, it was almost 8:20 when we started, usually 4-8 minutes between races, etc. If you could cut down on those times you could easily squeeze in a few more races.

It twaz sad that I couldn't rejoin, I had fun while I was in. Good to have you back Waldo, are you gonna become a regular again?? I agree with the pre-Waldo returning statement, I think the overall skill level of the group has increased dramatically to make for some better racing.

Something to think about, as we get Waldo and Arby back, add in Luigi and we're up to 11 or so racers. When there's only one extra it's easy enough to rotate in and out, with three extras though we need to consider opening up a 2nd room. We need a few more people (Spidey's friend for instance) to really have two decent rooms. My buddy SlayerZ50 will (hopefully) race with us some more, he's on a 3 week motorcycle trip at the moment.

I had a lot of fun, it's a shame I couldn't get in until 10. Even then, I'm afraid my presence might have been what kept Ty and Hopeless out, so that sucked. I don't understand how these connection issues have been manifesting themselves. It never seems to happen with games outside of Forza 2, but I guess I don't participate in 8-friend rooms in other games.

I'm not exactly sure what happened on that last lap of Maple Valley, but it wasn't entirely your fault Waldo. It was an aggressive move (maybe a few tires in the grass?), but when I saw it I panicked and I was probably the one to make first contact. Regardless, I should have had that race locked up and then I did a solo-spin move on the sixth lap. Oh well.

Sorry for the Sunset Infield race, I was very wreckless but I was enjoying the close racing with Queasy too much to let up. Blowfish - JUDGE, JURY & EXECUTIONER

Cat and Mouse was more fun than usual. I don't want to say that it involved an awful lot of skill and strategy, it never does, but I did enjoy the last lap where Blowfish had a 300-400 meter lead and Queasy was the only cat that I had to keep occupied.

Don't be a stranger, Waldo!

I wanted to hear Blowfish do a Stallone/Judge Dredd impersonation - "I AM THE LAW!"

Had fun racing. Like I said last night, my car was real nice. It just needed a better driver!

Wow I actually forgot I obliterated CK on purpose last night. Kinda sad considering I have been your C&M partner for 5 straight wins .... ooops!

I figured if I stood up for Queasy I might get some brownie points on the forums if I ever get out of hand here ;)!

I will behave next week I promise.

Connection issues were a B*TCH last night. I have no idea what the problem was but it was very annoying. It's the worst we have ever had.

I think we need to go back to hopeless hosting as things ran smooth for several weeks when he was the host. The last 2 times I hosted there have been issues getting guys into the room. Hell even hopeless couldn't get back in last night. Very strange.

**Queasy don't forget to pick your track for the long race next week as well as your "gimmick" race.

OSJ - You should put in your first post that the "picker" needs to decide on the car, the "long race" track, and what "gimmick" race we do each week (ie C&M, Relay, Last man Standing, everyone ram CK  J/K (maybe))

You did initiate the contact, but it was 110% my fault. I ran right into your line with the nose of my car all while "off roading" with the left side of the car. Was really aggressive and I thought I could make it. Clearly I didn't. You ran a good race and I screwed it up for ya.

Just a thought, I know it's 2 months off but OSJ, your pick for 11/26 I think we need to reschedule. Can't speak for everyone but I assume many will be gone for Thanksgiving.

Good racing last night.

Not sure what was happening but it seemed like forza wasn't even trying to connect. The box would pop up saying joining than within seconds the failed to connect box came up. Did the same thing after rebooting the xbox and both routers.

Hopefully it will be better next week.

Just to be sure, next week is the 65 Shelby Cobra 427 at S class but no power upgrades?

I had the exact same problem -hope, it gave me the error about 1/2 second after I tried to join

Waldo: That race at Laguna was epic. I think I gave it away, though. If I hadn't missed my braking point and then locked them up going into the hairpin at the end of lap 4, I'd have been a lot closer to you in the front half of lap 5 and might have been able to get around you and not had to try again at the hairpin on lap 5. Coming out of the hairpin on lap 5, I was actually out front by close to a car length but your Mustang accelerates much faster than my Z and you wound up about a car length ahead at the end. Quite a big swing in a really short distance there. Quite possibly the best race I've been a part of in Forza nights. I just watched the replay of our contact on lap 1 of Maple Valley. It looked like innocent contact to me. You came right towards me and I came left towards you and it took us both out.

Blowfish: I'll update the OP as soon as I finish this post.

Ty: It's actually Blowfish's pick on the 11/26 but I agree, we may want to shift that pick a week further depending on where everyone is. I know I'll be out of town and may or may not have my 360 with me. I'm thinking that I probably won't have it. I'd be in favor of postponing that week. I guess there's nothing that says whoever is around can't still race but I agree, I don't think it should count as a regular pick week.

Maple Valley was definitely nobodies fault. Sometimes it just happens. Now what I did to CK, that was somebodies fault! LOL.

The race at Laguna was apparently too awesome for my 360 to handle. It has since died. Have a repair order for it and hopefully will get that fixed ASAP.

Also, the Mustang was so much faster than your Z on the straights because I had very little downforce on it. Your car was dominating mine in the corners and I couldn't do anything about it other than hold on and hope we were side by side on that final straight away. Thankfully it happened because if you had gotten in front of me on the 4th lap I would have never seen you again. :)

Sorry about your Xbox croaking Waldo. Guess even though you could keep up with the pace it couldn't :p

Interesting article on the Forza forums about wheel vs. controller on Forza.

Interesting thread, but it is a thread, not an article. I do feel some of what it talks about. But I'm playing for fun and realism, not to be the best.

Thread, article, same difference!!

Well, it's official, my Forza disk is dead. It started acting funny on Wednesday when it made my 360 slow down...popped up as unreadible but I ejected it and put it back in and it slowly started. Now it won't pull up at all.

Looks like I'll have to get one off of Ebay unless you wanna sell me your old game disk Spidey.

*edit* ok, so it seems that if I start the Xbox without the disk in and then put Forza in it "sometimes" works, we'll see how long this lasts.

Just got back from Grattan Raceway. A guy I know was running his '87 911 (930) turbo with the Grand Rapids Porsche club so I was taking some photos. There was a guy there with a Nissan GT-R. He let me sit in it woohoo. I'll get a couple pics up in a bit.

edit: pics '87 911 turbo GT-R w/ GT3 RS chasing

Anybody got a good tune for the Cobra?

I'm having a very hard time controlling it.

It's gonna be tough to control as there's no downforce mods. I think the best advice is "break early, slow in-fast out."

With all the torque it's got and no downforce I think traction control is gonna be key (or at least really good throttle control). If not I think it'll spin like crazy.
