Forums to discuss ChessMaster 9000 vs Fritz 6 for novices (Rating = 1025)

Unless i'm doing something wrong, ChessMaster 9000 isnt helping me much learn. it suggests moves, but doesnt tell you why.

ie: It suggests that I sacrifice my queen for a bishop when there seems to be a way for my queen to escape safely. Only to find out 3 turns later that the safe move loses the queen outright. But CM 9k doesnt tell me that.

Does Fritz 6 do any better in teaching novices?

Fritz is the best program you can buy and there is even a version that supports dual-processor systems.

Isn't there a Fritz 7.0 now?

I would suggest buying the last year's version which sells for something like $20 and playing games found on it's database. I would also suggest having a physical chess board out to play your games against Fritz instead of just the computer screen. This will help you to learn how to analyze better and it pits you against Fritz over a physical chess board.(Which mimics actual play against a human)

I would highly suggest that you visit http://www.icdchess.com as they have very good prices and exceptional customer service. If you sign up for there e-mail offers or make an order through their website then you may become eligible for their wholesale pricing sales. Wholesale diiscount is 10%- 30% off all products.

I have made several orders from them and I am very happy with the quality and the service.

Buy Fritz 7.0 Chess Playing Program for $24.95 now, that's a great price because Fritz used to sell for well over $50.00 just a year ago and the new version of Fritz offers a membership to an internet chess server www.playchess.com with purchase and no additional fees.

Check out this website of Chessbase for more information on Fritz and Chess software.

Oh and Deep Fritz is the MultiProcessor version of Fritz which can run on up to eight processors.
