I know someone is going to tell me to 'google it' - I have tried.

Are there any really good forums that are usuable, active, and good for teachers? I've found a few, but most are the really old style forums that just give you a headache trying to use them, or they are really nice - but inactive.

I want a good place to bounce some ideas around :)

Thanks!

Did you read my op at all? I am perfectly capable of typing "teacher +forum" in google. Go and actually visit the sites you pulled up. Most are 'old school' bulletin boards that have terrible usability and searchability, etc.

I was hoping not to wade through 300 websites in the 4 million search results (just guessing there). . .

Let me rephrase:

I am asking those here that are in the teaching profession, if they personally use and know of a quality forum that they would be willing to share.

What state are you in? Also what do you teach? Is there a specific type you are searching for?

I am teaching middle school math (pre-algebra). I am just looking for a usable forum. I hate all the forums I've found so far, they are like the 1996 forums that were just lines of text. Just something popular and active and on a normal forum like phpbb2 or invision

You should try and find out if there's a popular listserve you can get on...there might be one but it's not public and you can join by invite/nomination only.

That's the way it is in my profession (marine biology) to keep all the hobbiests out so everything can remain as professional as possible.
