Forums are INSANELY slow

its all that code that has to be parsed in order for these fine adverts and little links all over articles, that have nothing to do with the articles, to show up...

Forums are fine, no issues server side. Forum servers 1-3 are all reporting under 200ms avg req time, which is very good. Could be network latency, maybe the capping. I just surfed around on the forums servers for a bit and they seem just fine.

My connection has been slow all day, not just to the forums. Maybe some idiot college kid in the midwest had his FTP server run amuck... 😱

It often seems like it's the content itself slowing down pages. I don't like seeing that IE has stopped downloading any data, but the page is still showing just the background color and the first ad and then several seconds later the entirety of the page appears.

I believe that might be due to the way tables are used for the page layout and left column ad placement. Strangely, Mozilla doesn't have any problems with that; it continues to load pages and display them as they load. 🙂

Yeah well, based on the way IE works in general with this site, one would think it wasn't the most common browser. I really wish the minor issues I had with Mozilla weren't issues that really really made it hard for me to use it.
