Forum user name search issue: EDIT: Another question/request

The forum username search feature seems to no longer only search by username. For example, search Jason. You will end up getting all usernames with the word Jason as well as any member that has the name Jason somewhere in their profile.

That is exactly as it should function, it looks for users that match firstname, lastname or username since the forum can operate in username as well as first and last name modes. We had a lot of requests to include first and last name in the search.

Then it shouldn't be labeled as username search. Just makes it kind of pointless in my opinion since I want to find a user based off of their username not their first or last name. When I search for Jason, for example, it should display those with a username of Jason, not those with a first name, last name, or username of Jason.

I apologize for my ranting above, but I no longer find this feature to be useful like it previously was.

Maybe at a later date we can add a drop down for you to choose how to search for the user.

That would be great. 🙂

Perhaps even a drop down or selection box that allows you to search posts by a user, but only display threads that they have started.

Give it a try now, for now I have changed it to only search nickname. The drop down isn't a bad idea, but in reality allowing people here to know anyone elses first and last name isn't a good idea. Username mode is meant to be anonymous.
