Besides the FREE forum software, and besides the $2000 software anandtech uses, know of any others that are as user friendly as anandtech that dont cost as much?

And you presume if you pay it will be easier?

SQL/PHP stuff like PHPBB is pretty damn user friendly.

vBulletin is the best as far as I am concerned. FuseTalk is TWO GRAND!?!? Wtf, maybe with an interface redesign and a price drop it would be worth it. But, I don't like FuseTalk, vBulletin is much more customizable and easier to use. I guess fusetalk could be really customizable but it isn't anywhere near as easy as vBulletin templates. Tell me, can FuseTalk do this: http://yaxay.com/yack

oh don't start. I thought you meant on the admin end. :disgust:

either way, they all work the same for the user, most of them all behave the same way.

You should really find out if you have enough user base before you go shellin' out $$.

It's really nice when you shell out $250 and 3 people post for 2 weeks, and then the forum dies.

LOL That's what will probably happen, but that would suck investing all that time, energy and $ then the forum dies.

There's already several useful suggestions in your previous thread.

Why are you responding with such a bitchy attitude? Were trying to HELP you here.

Thats how people talk. You ask a question. We answer the question. Its a neat little system.

Dude, what's wrong with some of the free software? There's some really good ones out there!

Snitz is extremely easy to set up, admin, and operate.
InvisionBoard is a bit less easy ;), but extremely capable and flexible.

well u see, the way i look at it is this.

If you are going to go into business for yourself, and lets say its a diner. Do you buy the lower grade food or the higher grade food?

Im not trying to defend my ideas or decisions to any of you. First impressions are big in the beginning, so to me a $500 loss is fairly small for an attempted website. Plus i post on anandtech, and isnt spending more money on worthless things a good thing?

and Aphex, i know you are helping, you helped me out great, i just dont like when people need justification for a question.

He just can't make up his mind, he'll go on like this until he realizes we're right :D

I second dakata24's suggestion to check out Invision Board.

Agreed, why spend money when a perfeclty good substitute exists. If anything it shows the end user that your not wasting money (which eventually ends up in higher prices). The laws of Economics my friend.

All kidding aside why not at least give the FREE forum software a try before dissing them and paying $ for something you may find to be inferior?
