Forum software is not logging out automatically when browser is closed.

I have a question, the old forum software (I think it was vbulletin) would automatically log me out whenever i closed the browser. I noticed that the new forum software maintains the connection even when windows is restarted and the browser opened afterwards. Is this a setting i can change myself in the forum user settings or is it a security bug ?

When you log in there is a box to check/uncheck whether to stay logged in or not. It's checked (stay logged in)by default. Probably what you're looking for.
I think VB had the same option. Seems like most or all sites nowadays have that option & it's usually checked by default.

I checked, i do not have the checkbox checked.

I have no idea how it happened.
But i could really restart windows and be logged in again. First i thought it was firefox remembering the session, but i am actually logged in as well.
I will see if i restart the browser that i stay logged in.

I think it is a feature of firefox.
I was logged in as well on another forum (raspberry pi forum) and there i am also still logged in.
Both are https connections. But i guess that does not matter ?

"Remember logins for sites" on the security tab for Firefox options?
Or, under "Clear history when Firefox closes", under the Privacy tab - settings, "clear all active logins"?

No sorry, i have "Remember logins for sites" not checked.
After a restart of firefox and a restart of windows itself , i can still enter a message with logging in.

I will try the clear history option.

We can't seem to reproduce this on any browsers. Most of the general solutions have been provided by others who have responded to this thread.

Is anybody else seeing this behavior with their login sessions? I'll keep an eye on this thread, but we can't provide any solutions from our end at the moment.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I will verify if i have this with other forum websites as well, i know at least of one. I will start the firefox browser 50.0 without any addons enabled. and do all the same again to trace it back.

I never allow firefox to remember my login, so that should not make a difference. I will also try if clearing my logins helps for some reason.
I think the issue is with my browser for some reason.

Well, i tested it with edge. And edge did not remember the log ins(It closes all tabs). I tested it with firefox 50.0.1 under control of eset smart security and that also functions correctly. The firefox browser does forget the login after closing(It does not remember tabs with url).
When i start firefox 50.0.1without addons, it also remembers the log in while keeping the tab open.
When i explicitly clear all logins befor closing, no login is remembered.
I will check if the plugins make any difference.

Aha, i noticed the difference, when i close the tab with the forum url before closing firefox, the login is not remembered when i restart firefox.
But when i close firefox while keeping the tab open, the login will be remembered the next time i start firefox. That is strange.

But i guess this is part of the setting :
Tools > options > general : When firefox starts : show my windows and tabs from the last time.
