For some strange reason, whenever I post a message, it says I can't post a message twice, and then goes on to post the message properly when I hit OK.

Safari is still beta though.

Yeah, I figured, but I thought you might be interested anyway. In the meantime, I've submitted the bug to Apple.

I believe safari still has some fairly major javascript issues.

And as far as not supporting beta browsers, if 50% of all people used a browser that was labeled beta, I bet you would support it, Zuni. ;) It's a matter of numbers, and safari simply doesn't have that many users thus far, at least in comparison to other browsers..

BingBong, the fact of the matter is that doesnt happen. Beta means BETA :) We don't support them.

And betas are constantly changing, so even if 50% of the people used a beta, I wouldn't spend too much time trying to support it, as long as it sort of worked ok. :)

Yeah, I figure it must be a Safari bug - hence the bug submission to Apple. I wonder when it will go gold.

Now the question is when they do go gold, how many sites will actively support it? If 4% of the world is Mac, and less than half are using X.2, then that means only 1-2% of the computing world will use Safari when it becomes non-beta.

It was my impression that Safari was based somewhat on the rendering components of Konqueror (is that correct?). Ergo, add to that 1% or 2% the small percent of Linux users (I have no idea how much that would be) who use Konq, and that would be just a bit more. For small sites, or large primarily-non-Mac tech sites, optimization for that browser would probably not be worth it. However, places like CNN that get tons of hits will probably at least make sure their site's basic functionality works in Safari.

*Posted Using Safari*

I think Apple knows that few people will be using thier browser, so rather than getting people to write pages to support thier browser they'll make thier browser support the pages people have written.

We dont support beta browsers.

I use Opera 7 as my primary browser (it's not a beta) and have been since ver 5, and there are a lot of things that don't work here on these forums with this browser as well

Rob, odd I use opera 7 from time to time to test and can do everything I do with IE almost exactly the same. How about some recreation steps to the issues you are "seeing".

No idea, but I can tell you this IE on MAC is one of the buggiest pieces of software I have ever seen. I haven't seen that issue on our OS X 10.2 box with the latest ie 5.2 i think it is.

Posting works fine but I can't reply to PMs or see users profiles or anyhting like that, so unfortunately I have to fire up Mozilla to send PM.

Sounds like you turned off popups. The same thing happens to me in mozilla, I have to enable popups briefly to be able to send pm's.

In Mozilla 1.2.1/Win32: Preferences > Advanced > Scripts and Plugins > Uncheck open unrequested windows. That should allow you to send PMs, while shutting up any popups / popunders. Also consider some of the other options, if you wish.

The functionality of the forum works fine with my Opera 7 setup, but the PM and profile pages don't look correct, but it's not something anyone needs to change code over, IMO. :)

You guys are right, I have the option to not accept pop ups turned off and that is why it wouldn't work.
