Several members have posted that they couldn't edit their profiles to update their e-mail addresses before the move to vBullitin. The problem is that FuseTalk is set not to allow user names that include "special characters," including punctuation marks such as a period or hyphen. Even Senior Mods and Admins can't edit accounts to do this.

If you need to update your profile, and especially if you need to update your e-mail address, please PM the Mod account to request a name change.
  1. Include your preferred new user name. If the problem with your current user name is that it includes a period, hyphen, etc., you may want the same name using a space, instead.
  2. Use the bottom section of the forum search page to check whether the name you want is already taken. Even if it is, if the name you want is assigned to an account that has very few posts and not been accessed in over a year, we will consider altering the name on the other account to allow you to have that name. There are reasons we may not be able to accomodate such a request so this will have to be determined on a case by case basis.
  3. If the change you want includes updating your e-mail address, please include the new address. That will allow us to e-mail you that we have made the change. Otherwise, you may still not be able to log on, even though we won't change their passwords, simply because you don't enter the correct user name.
Not all moderators have the access required to update members' accounts, but we will notify those who do of your request, and it will be updated as soon as possible. Please be patient. This may take a few days, depending on which mods are on line at any given time.

And PLEASE remember that we will not be able to notify you about the change if you don't give us your new e-mail address.

Hey Harvey, do you think it will be useful to post this in Off Topic as a sticky cause of the high traffic it gets?

I can change my email addy in my profile, but the changes don't seem to be accepted. My name and email addy have red asterisks after them and I'm not getting an email with a new password. My username doesn't have special symbols. How can I update my profile?

---

The red asterisk just indicates that the fields are manditory. :)
