I have visited Anandtech for quite some time now. I have my own Forum Website I would like to turn into a AUDIO/VIDEO forum. I was wondering what type of software was used to create the Anandtech website and linking it to the Fusetalk forum. Here is my site. I would like some ideas on how I can design a front end like Anandtech so that i can post reviews in my industry.

Hmmm, being new at this. Where can I find this type of web design information? Can I port of my existing Forum database?

tip: in FF, double click url to highlight then right click web search and click link from google.

What you need is a Content Management System like Drupal or Joomla (the new version of Mambo, that can integrate your current forum. There are many more CMSs you can test out, without going through the trouble of installing, at opensourcecms.com.

Or, you could do a combination of WordPress for posting reviews, and bbPress for the forum. bbPress is written by the same guys who've written WordPress, argueably one of the most popular blogging engines around.

Wow, Reading these sites seems like it so complicated. I need to learn how to install MySQl, PHP. Its a lot work. Anyone have an idea of where to start? I also noticed you have to pay for MYSQL now.

Or you can use a real web host such as Telnap.com which is offering FREE WEB HOSTING featuring:
  • Max Ftp Accounts - 1
  • Max Email Accounts - unlimited
  • Max Email Lists - 2
  • Max SQL Databases - 5
  • Max Sub Domains - 5
  • 250MB storage
  • 3000MB bandwidth
  • cPanel
  • Fantastico

You can either manually install forum/CMS or use Fantastico and install new forum software in about 10 seconds.

yeah, or you can use fantastico to select a portal of your choice, then install it. fantastico does everything for you, you don't need to create your own databases. most portals should have a bridge for IPB
