Forum asking me to log in to view a picture

Ditto....it's getting annoying. I'm running NT. You all too? Or is this happening to everyone. (it's asking for a username/password/domain)

same here, not for forums though, only when I try access the main page, and wont go away or give me a chance to click a diff site, need very fast hand/eye coornation to hit the fave menu then a random link! 🙂

whops accidently hit enter before typing anything

yea i get this message also i hope you dont have to sign up for the anandtech account to be able to look at pics

(if it is then this site blows) but i doubt it is

so webmasters fix it

and my friend on aol can view the pics

continues to ask for the images.anandtech.com password.

I am getting tired of cancelling. I'll try somewhere else for awhile.

having the same problem. i clicked on the 'remember my password button' when nothing was typed in, and although the graphic isn't loading, it doesn't pop up anymore.

make a text file in your windows directory and call it hosts

no period, nothing, just hosts

add this to it

127.0.0.1 localhost

127.0.0.1 images.anandtech.com

save, exit internet explorer and reload.

viola

I did that i dont know if i saved it correctly but what does it suppose to do

for me it just stopped asking and still not loading

the hosts file filters out banner ads.

127.0.0.1 = your computer

ad server name like ads.treeloot.com

put them together and you won't get any ads from ads.treeloot.com

you can block any ad this way. you just have to know the name of the ad server.

you can do a websearch on HOSTS file to get a better explanation. some places even offer their own HOSTS files for you. you just download it and lots of the major banner ad companies will be filtered out.

It's the same thing used by Norton's Internet Security's Ad Trashcan.

i thought the same principal might apply here to the problem we were having. i guess not. it just so happened that when i added images.anandtech.com to my hosts file it went away. i guess that was just a coincidence!
