I just booted with Memtest86 disk and it said the L1 cache speed is 46GB/S. :Q

Is that possible?

Cheers!

On an intel processor, yes. I believe the Intel processors use a 256bit bus that operates on every clock. So if your processor was operating at 3GHz, the L2 cache would be doing 96GB/s.

What speed is your processor?

The Athlon processors are still stuck on the POS 64 bit bus doing every other clock, I think.

That seems pretty low for a L1 data rate, but real world is bound to be lower than theoretical.

Perhaps the CPU is throttling during that part of the test. Isn't one of the biggest features of the Nocona it's ability to throttle under percieved CPU load? It's probably not running anywhere near full speed on just a theoretical bandwidth test, as this would likely require little CPU power.
