Depends on what kind of connectors you need, and how the rails compare.

well let's ignore that variable for now... i'm more concerned with quality and not having to worry about a psu causing my system to suddenly reboot or crash.

Both are high quality psu's, and will provide clean, stable power so you don't need to worry about sudden reboots or crashes with either.

So the question is whether or not you want a modular psu.

Both of them are major overkill for your current config!!
However, I would go with NeoPower just because it looks better.

That's a tough one...Blue Storm or NeoPower.

One thing for sure your really cannot go wrong with either one...I would probably get the NeoPower because I have never owned one.

BlueStorms are absolute beast...But I must admit I was impressed with the NeoPower in the one build that I used the NeoPower...Did not have it in my possession long enough to thrash it...But very nice...Rock solid, excellent build quality.

LOL...That's a tough one for sure.

I have the blue storm 500W and it sure is quiet with the 120mm fan. Not to mention the rails are rock solid running 4 HDDs (soon to be 6), a 6800NU, 2 burners (soon to be 3), 3 PCI cards, a water pump, 4 120mm fans, and 2 UV cathodes.

damn this is tough... also i just learned that this topic should be in general hardware before anyone flames me. the neopower looks like a good deal just because it's modular...sigh wish i got in on that fry's deal ($50 AR)...

why do you guys say that 480+ wattage is overkill? what's consider the minimum watts or price range for "more than enough" for my rig?

Well actually in my humble opinion anyway...Nothing less than a 480watt supply for the rig you have in mind.

Overkill???...No way...More than enough???...Probably

The Antec has some notable features...Dedicated circuits for each rail (sorta)...Active PFC...3% line regulation...Advanced Cable Management System.

Gotta admit this too about the Antec...Man you talk about a walk in the park to sleeve...Really could not be any easier.

Decisions...Decisions...In your position, I would go with the Antec NeoPower.

99 duckies for a NeoPower is a pretty good deal.

One thing for sure about the Fortron is it can take a licking and keep on ticking even in some over the top systems and constant crazy overclocking...Build quality second to none.

I have a Blue Storm, and I love it. Yes I've had a modular PSU before, but I didn't take case size when I bought it. Turned out that because the cables were so stiff, it actually hindered my air flow

How about the Meridian Tech. XClio 450 for under $60. shipped from Newegg... Best value in a PSU I've seen in a long time. Made by Channel Well just like most Antecs.

Hmm...my motherboard monitors report my 12V rail on the Blue Storm to be at 11.78...but I'm pretty sure that's a reporting error, as I've had no stability problems. I haven't actually mesaured it with a volt meter. So I'd say, based on my experience, the Blue Storm is a good buy. Braided cabling is sure helpful, too.

Go with the Fortron, only beacuse at lower power draw the Neopower is only in the 65% efficient at 30%-50% power.

Buying a power supply that is rated so far above what you will be actually using results in an energy penalty. I switched all my systems to the Seasonic Super Tornado 350W. None of my system draws more that 120 watts at idle (as per KILL-A-WATT meter) and I am in the 80% efficiency range. The 350w peaks at 390w so there is still a world of headroom.

A better indicator than a PSU's power output is how much of that power shoots out the exhaust fan as lost heat. Many supplies can only muster 60-65% efficency at 50% power.

At both 90w and 150w draw the Fortron "wastes" 30 watts less current than the Neopower

WHat is with you people?!? You don't nedd that much power!!! Nvidia's recomendation is a 400watt for two 6800gts, 480 is way overkill. 350 would be plenty. However, I still might recomend buy the neopower because a modular psu would be nice, blue storm 500watt is pointless... get the 350 watt one.

The CPU and graphics card in a modern gaming pc drains most of the power.
Your 3000+ winchester and 6800GT isn't considered heavy power drainer these days.

Great choice. I got Seasonic Super Tornadoes now, but as I upgrade in the future I'm going S12's.

Seasonic 430w PSU for $99 seems quite expensive.
430w PSU usually don't cost that much.

I would reccomend that you get the ANTEC 480 power supply, but however if you have tons of HDD, then I'll say the other as it supports more power demanding, check the Power Supply's rating information on the Supply. Check their websites for more information, I would say 480 Antec on the other hand.

The new S12 models cost a lot. It has a very high efficiency rating and is very quiet. I'd go for that.

If you don't want to spend that much, consider the 400W Seasonic Tornado.

Also, S12 = 12v dual rail, Tornado/Silencer = single 12v rail

I'm willing to pay a little more for THE quietest fan-cooled PSUs your money can buy. It's a good investment for those who want a quiet computer.
