Fortissimo III..???

I am looking to replace my onboard sound with a Hercules Fortissimo III. I am currently running a SB Live which I yanked out of another machine temporarilly.

Is the Fortissimo III a good buy for $50? Is it less CPU hungry than a SB Live?

I swear my SB Live causes stutters in UT2k3. I have a powerful machine and I don't recall these ever so slight stutters when using the on board c-media sound.

My sblive IN and Mic IN went out so I went out and bought a new soundcard. I really like the setup of this card. The main reason I like it is that it has the ability to have headphones and your speakers plugged in at the same time. And you can choose which one. Well actually my girlfriend likes it when shes sleeping she doesn't have to listen to my music. But it also supports 7.1(without the headphone crontrol). I don't know about how the soundblaster took up resources but this card is better I think. Its a Cirrus Logic chipset. It also comes with Power DVD so its almost covers the cost right there if you haven't got power dvd.

I was thinking of getting a cheap soundcard with optical out, to record onto minidisc.
Would you recommend the Fortissimo, or is there something better i should be considering?

thanks,
