forthcoming 802.11ac standard use

Do the mobile, laptop, tablet, etc. client adapters for the 802.11ac use a lot of power, or will lower-power chips give us these better speeds.

How soon will these get into fiber routers? I don't know the conversions- whats the reasonable rate/throughput for ac compared to fiber internet speeds/rates?

A bit wider radius than current 802.11n, but the key is that it is on a very wide notch of relatively unused spectrum. The fact that they readily sell bridges would suggest protocol-adhering repeaters (which I saw on sale at a big site) will mesh well. It is also said to deliver 802.11n better- due to the # of antennas, spread of modulations and spectrum, and special transmission tech.


I have fios, am I constrained by an 802.11n network, where both the router and my laptop are 300/300 configured, and the highest I've seen connections on win8rp is mid 60's. My router goes through a wall to get to 90 percent of usable area in range, through many more from adjacent hallways. one manufacturer has a pledge, guarantee that it will work anywhere in the house at much higher speed.

My company has a proprietary small business solution and we're banging our head against certain limitations of the 802.11n technology. It is not high bandwidth and even 802.11g speeds would be fine. It's a matter of range and we can't use higher powered routers due to certain technology limits of the devices we are using. Sorry to be vague but I'm under NDA. A reliable mesh network would solve all of our headaches.
