Forte Agent question ... EDIT.. new question

It seems like Forte Agent keeps a compilation of all files DL'd or SOMETHING in the Data folder because I have like 3 gig DAT files.. Is there a way to turn this option off, or is it safe just to delete 'em when I close Forte Agent?
 
Make sure to :

1. Under OPTIONS \ General Preferences
to untick the Save deleted messages in a trash folder
Make sure to clear any deleted messages in the trash folder.

2. Compact databases.
Go to FILE \ Compact databases

3. When SAVING ATTACHMENTS, tick Remove from message after saving
 
I just deleted all the files in that DATA folder like an idiot.. thus it removed all the posts from my newgroups that I had already DL'd, many of which I haven't read yet. So I updated my groups again and it only gave me the new posts .. there's no way I can get those old posts back is there?

Agent just gives you what the news server has, if your news server has a poor retention period, its lost. Even if you hadn't deleted the data folder, if you don't actually download the body of the message in your news server's retention period its gone. Try Google's groups or similar news archives.
