Lack of further details in the article leads to believe something like the former; basically something that the family doesn't want known.

Yeah I have to wonder if it was self-induced drugs or alcohol. He surely was depressed about the injuries and inability to break back into the Show.

As a Braves fan I hated to see him go. I always liked to watch him pitch. Very sad when a young person goes before their time.
