Formatting XP??

I installed XP (Retail, DevilsOwn rip) on an old computer, but it's too slow to run xp. I want to format the hard drive but I can't! I have the system restore CD, but when I boot into that it reads the cd, but once it loads dos, I can't get to the C drive at all. It's very weird, probably some lame XP security feature. (Speaking of which, if you have the same release I do, don't change your mobo, the disabled activation provided by DevilsOwn doesn't like that. BSOD until you reinstall)

Back on topic, I also tried my mactor boot disk, but that gives a "No DOS" error. So how do I format my disk and get rid of this thing?

TIA
-Cameron

DOS can't read NTFS, you will have to use FDISK to delete the partition, create a FAT, and format it.

Wow, fast reply!

I was just coming in here to say that I had found a solution (the same thing you mentioned) but you beat me to it.

Thanks,
Cameron

yes, and for more control over your hard drive partiotions, i suggest aefdisk.exe, get it from www.download.com (search "aefdisk") this may be more of a power user program, but it's badass... i put it on a win98 bootdisk for full control...

UNSTOPPABLE!
