I have just formatted my main HD using the Windows XP CD during start up, and now my internet wont connect and my open folders move ever so slowly when i drag them, sort of like a mouse tail for opened windows. I must specify that i am using Windows XP Pro students edition, and i formatted the drive by deleting the partition of the previous Windows XP and installing the new one with NTFS formatting. Thanks.

How do you connect to internet? DSL? Cable? Campus network? (you need to provide more info)
Did you install all the necessary drivers for your PC? (you need to list the spec.)
You need to be as detail as possible when asking for assistance.

If you have loaded all your drivers...

Start >
Control Panel >
Performance and Mantenance >
System >
Advanced (tab) >
Performance [Settings] >
Adjust for best performance >
Apply >
Ok

I agree, you probably haven't loaded all your drivers. It sounds like Windows is operating in what was known in Windows 98 as "compatibility mode," which can be dirt slow. Before wiping installs, it is always best to dowload and have the latest drivers available, epecially your network driver, which might not be a native driver included in your XP setup disk.

Yeah, that sounds like no video / NIC drivers have been loaded yet.

of course. you have formatted your disk in the appropriate manner. it must be a driver issue. PC works slow until you install the display drivers.
